Let Us Trust God To Protect Us

On Friday, February 27, 2015, our legislators decided to fund the Department of Homeland Security for one more week. This is important because we are hearing of more and more threats against our security and the idea of not paying our protectors does not seem to be a good idea.  But can we solely depend upon our military, our spy networks, or our local police to protect us against those who would love to see the end of our nation?

The Bible is very clear on this.  We cannot rely on our physical forces to protect us from terror.  God alone is our protection (Psalm 127:1). But we can rely on the promises of God that we do not have to be afraid of anything (Psalm 91:5-7).  He promised further that no weapon shall harm you (Isaiah 54:17).

Today when many are worried about whether our government can or will protect us from our enemies, we who love the Lord know that our God is greater than any enemy and His Department of Homeland Security is well funded and is always in operation. Let us pray for our leaders that they will make Godly decisions about our country’s protection.

Psalm 127:1
New International Version (NIV)
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.

Psalm 91:5-7
New International Version (NIV)
You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

Isaiah 54:17
New International Version (NIV)
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you...
